ESTROGENS
Why this applies to Bazedoxifene Acetate, Conjugated Estrogens
Bazedoxifene Acetate, Conjugated Estrogens falls under ESTROGENS — the group Guarana interacts with.
Guarana contains caffeine. Estrogen inhibits caffeine metabolism.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to know if you're taking Duavee (conjugated estrogens with bazedoxifene) and reaching for a guarana supplement: it isn't really your Duavee that builds up. It's the caffeine. The estrogen part of Duavee can slow down how your body clears caffeine, and guarana is basically concentrated caffeine. So the caffeine can hang around longer and hit harder than you'd expect.
In real life that might mean more jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling anxious. This is considered a fairly likely interaction, though it's on the milder side. A normal cup of coffee probably won't be a big deal, but concentrated guarana energy products can add up fast. If you want to use it, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you have any heart concerns.

About Guarana
What is Guarana?
- Energy and alertness
- Reducing fatigue
- Weight loss support
- Athletic performance
- Mental focus
Guarana is an Amazonian seed that is naturally high in caffeine, which explains most of its stimulant and energy effects. While it may give a short-term boost in alertness and reduce fatigue, strong evidence for weight loss or major performance gains is limited, and it carries the same risks as too much caffeine. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have heart problems, anxiety, or are pregnant.
About Estrogen and Bazedoxifene
What Is Estrogen and Bazedoxifene Used For?
Brand name: Duavee
-
Estrogen and bazedoxifene tablets are used to treat hot flashes (sudden feelings of warmth, especially in the face, neck, and chest) in women who are experiencing menopause (stage of life when menstrual periods become less frequent and stop and women may experience other symptoms and body changes). Estrogen and bazedoxifene tablets are also used to prevent osteoporosis (condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) in women who have undergone menopause. Estrogen is in a class of medications called hormones and bazedoxifene is in a class of medications called estrogen agonist–antagonists. Estrogen works by replacing estrogen that is normally produced by the body. Bazedoxifene is used to block the action of estrogen on the lining of the uterus, decreasing the risk of overgrowth that may lead to cancer.
