Amiloride falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Hemp interacts with.

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Here's the gist for hemp and amiloride: in theory, concentrated hemp seed protein might gently nudge your blood pressure down by acting a little like an ACE inhibitor. Since amiloride is also working to lower your blood pressure, stacking the two could, in theory, add up. If your pressure dropped too far, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when standing up quickly.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This idea comes from animal lab studies, and in people hemp seed oil hasn't actually lowered blood pressure. Eating hemp seeds as food is very unlikely to cause any problem. If you're using a concentrated hemp protein supplement, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your readings.

About Amiloride

What Is Amiloride Used For?

Brand names: Midamor, Amilamont

Amiloride is used together with other diuretics (water pills) to treat congestive heart failure and high blood pressure (hypertension). It is added to a thiazide or similar diuretic to either restore low potassium levels or prevent them from dropping dangerously in the first place.

It is especially useful for people who are at particular risk if their potassium falls too low — for example, those taking digoxin or those with significant heart rhythm problems. Amiloride is rarely used on its own, as its diuretic and blood-pressure-lowering effects are weak compared with other diuretics.
