Elotuzumab falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Kava interacts with.

Theoretically, using kava with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
Kava has been linked with over 100 cases of hepatotoxicity. Most cases occur with excessive and prolonged use. There is some concern that kava can adversely affect the liver, especially when used in combination with hepatotoxic drugs.

Here's the simple version: kava itself can occasionally be hard on the liver. There are over 100 reported cases of liver injury tied to kava, mostly with heavy or long-term use. Elotuzumab (Empliciti) is an infused antibody given alongside other myeloma drugs, and your cancer team already keeps a close eye on your liver during treatment. The worry isn't that kava changes how Empliciti works, it's that stacking two things that can stress the liver may add up.

This is a theoretical, anecdotal concern, not a proven reaction, so I'm not trying to alarm you. Still, with cancer treatment in the picture, I'd run any kava use by your oncologist or pharmacist first, and watch for yellowing skin, dark urine, or belly pain.

About Elotuzumab Injection

What Is Elotuzumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Empliciti

Empliciti is used to treat multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) in adults who have already tried other treatments. It is always given as part of a combination regimen — never alone.

Empliciti combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received one to three prior therapies. Empliciti combined with pomalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received at least two prior therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor.
