Kava + Ofloxacin
Ofloxacin brand names: Oflox, Floxin, Floxin Injection, Floxin Otic.
Kava has a moderate interaction with Ofloxacin. Theoretically, using kava with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Ofloxacin
Ofloxacin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Kava interacts with.
Kava has been linked with over 100 cases of hepatotoxicity. Most cases occur with excessive and prolonged use. There is some concern that kava can adversely affect the liver, especially when used in combination with hepatotoxic drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing kava and ofloxacin. Both can occasionally stress the liver. Kava has been tied to over 100 reported cases of liver injury (usually with heavy or long-term use), and fluoroquinolone antibiotics like ofloxacin can rarely cause liver problems too. So the worry is that using them together might add up and raise your risk of liver irritation.
To be fair, this is mostly theoretical and based on scattered case reports, not strong studies. Ofloxacin is also a short antibiotic course, not something you take for months. Still, since kava's liver risk is real, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and let them know right away if you notice yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness.

About Kava
What is Kava?
- Anxiety and stress
- Restlessness
- Trouble sleeping
- Relaxation in social or cultural settings
- Menopausal symptoms
Kava is a Pacific Island plant traditionally used to promote relaxation and ease anxiety, and some studies suggest it may help mild anxiety. However, kava has been linked to rare but serious liver damage, so it should be used with caution, avoided by people with liver problems, and only used after talking with your pharmacist or doctor.
About Ofloxacin
What Is Ofloxacin Used For?
Brand names: Oflox, Floxin, Floxin Injection, Floxin Otic
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It only treats infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It does not treat viruses.
Tablets are for adults with mild to moderate infections, including flare-ups of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated skin infections, and certain urethral and cervical infections such as gonorrhea and chlamydia. Eye drops treat bacterial conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. Ear drops treat otitis externa, chronic suppurative otitis media, and acute otitis media in children with ear tubes.
