Ropeginterferon alfa-2b-njft falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Kava interacts with.

Here's the concern with pairing kava and Besremi (ropeginterferon alfa-2b). This isn't about one changing the strength of the other. Instead, it's about the liver. Besremi can already stress the liver and raise liver enzymes as a known side effect, and kava has been tied to rare but serious liver injury, mostly with heavy or long-term use. Stacking two things that can each strain the liver may add up.

To be honest, this caution is theoretical and based mostly on scattered case reports, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since your medication needs regular liver monitoring, watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and please check with your doctor or pharmacist before using kava.

What Is Ropeginterferon alfa-2b Used For?

Brand name: Besremi

BESREMi (ropeginterferon alfa-2b) is used to treat two conditions in adults: polycythemia vera, a bone marrow disorder where the body makes too many red blood cells, and essential thrombocythemia, a condition where the bone marrow makes too many platelets.

Both conditions are given as subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injections of BESREMi, including the BESREMi Pen delivery option.
