Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Yohimbe interacts with.

Theoretically, yohimbe might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear aripiprazole (the active drug in Aristada). Lab studies suggest yohimbine, the active compound in yohimbe, can slow that enzyme down. If it does, more aripiprazole could linger in your system, which might mean stronger effects and more side effects like restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, trembling, or feeling jittery.

I'll be honest with you though, this is only based on test-tube research, not real people, so it's more of a theoretical concern. On top of that, yohimbe itself can spike your blood pressure and heart rate, which isn't ideal alongside an antipsychotic. Please don't change anything on your own. Just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) is a long-acting injection your body partly clears using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube studies, yohimbe appears to speed that enzyme up. If that happened in real life, it could lower your aripiprazole levels a bit, which in theory might make it work less well, meaning a higher chance your schizophrenia or bipolar symptoms aren't as well controlled.

I want to be honest though: this is only lab-based, theoretical evidence rated as minor, so we really don't know if it matters in people. The bigger concern with yohimbe is its own side effects, like racing heart and spikes in blood pressure. Before adding it, please check with your doctor or pharmacist.

What Is Aripiprazole Injection Used For?

Brand names: Aristada, Aristada Initio Kit

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
