Here's the part that matters with this combo: the codeine in your Anacin w/ Codeine is a prodrug. It does nothing for pain until your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert it into morphine, which is what actually relieves pain. Lab studies suggest yohimbine (the active compound in yohimbe) may slow down that very enzyme.

So in this case, blocking CYP2D6 could mean less codeine gets turned into morphine, which may leave you with weaker pain relief rather than more side effects. Keep in mind this is only test-tube evidence, so it's theoretical and may not happen in real life. The aspirin and caffeine pieces aren't really affected. Before mixing the two, check with your pharmacist or doctor, especially since yohimbe itself can raise blood pressure and heart rate.

Here's the piece to focus on with this combo product: it contains caffeine, which is a mild stimulant. Yohimbe acts like a stimulant too, nudging up your blood pressure and heart rate. Put the two together and those effects can stack. So even though you're mostly taking this medicine for pain (the aspirin and codeine side), the caffeine in it is what overlaps with yohimbe.

In real life that could mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, anxiety, or a bump in blood pressure. This is a theoretical concern based on how both work, not something proven in studies, so I don't want to overstate it. Still, if you have heart issues or high blood pressure, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, combining yohimbe bark with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might have additive effects; however, this has not been reported in clinical research.
Research in healthy adults shows that taking yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe bark, in doses of 8 mg or more, seems to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro by binding to the alpha-2 adrenoceptor. The effects of yohimbe bark itself are unclear; yohimbe bark contains 0.6% to 1.38% yohimbine, but it is unclear how much is absorbed.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combo product. The aspirin in it already thins your blood a little and slows down platelets (the cells that help you clot). Lab studies suggest that yohimbine, the active piece of yohimbe, may also nudge platelets to be less sticky. So in theory, stacking the two could add up and make bruising or bleeding (think nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a cut that takes longer to stop) a touch more likely.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical, based on lab dishes, not real patients, and we don't even know how much yohimbine your body absorbs from the bark. The bigger worry with yohimbe is its effect on blood pressure and heart rate. Run it by your pharmacist before combining them.

The piece of this combo pill that matters here is the caffeine. Your body clears caffeine using a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, and very early lab research hints that yohimbe might speed that enzyme up. If that happened in real life, caffeine could be cleared a little faster, so you might notice slightly less of its pick-me-up effect. The aspirin and codeine portions are not really handled by this pathway, so they shouldn't be affected.

Honestly, this is a theoretical, test-tube finding rated as minor, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger concern is that yohimbe itself can raise blood pressure and heart rate. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

Here's the thing about this combo pill: the codeine part is actually a prodrug. Your body has to switch it on before it does much for pain. Lab studies hint that yohimbe might speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which plays a smaller side role in handling codeine. If that happened, you could in theory get a touch less pain relief from the codeine.

Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
