Why this applies to Atomoxetine

Atomoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine (Tofranil) and amitriptyline (Elavil); antipsychotics such as haloperidol (Haldol), risperidone (Risperdal), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine); beta-blockers such as propranolol (Inderal), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), and carvedilol (Coreg); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); and others.

Here's the short version for Strattera (atomoxetine): your body relies on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to break this medication down. Lab research hints that lentinan might rev up that enzyme a bit. If that actually happened in people, atomoxetine could be cleared faster than usual, and lower levels might mean it doesn't control your ADHD symptoms as well, so you might notice more trouble focusing or more restlessness creeping back.

The honest part: this is only based on test-tube and animal studies, and it has never been reported in real patients. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Atomoxetine is sensitive to CYP2D6 changes, though, so if you want to add lentinan, give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up first and keep an eye on how well your medicine is working.
