Theoretically, yohimbe might reduce the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe, is an alpha-2 adrenoceptor antagonist and has been reported to increase blood pressure in clinical research. Theoretically, concomitant use of yohimbe and antihypertensive drugs can interfere with blood pressure control.

Here's the thing to know if you take timolol for blood pressure or your heart. Yohimbe contains yohimbine, which can actually nudge your blood pressure and heart rate up. That works directly against what timolol is trying to do, which is relax your blood vessels and slow your heart rate down. So pairing the two could partly cancel out your timolol's benefit, leaving your blood pressure higher than it should be.

This is a theory-based concern grounded in how yohimbine works, not something proven in big studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, with a heart medicine I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your timolol on your own.

Theoretically, yohimbe might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the thing to know about pairing yohimbe with timolol. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear timolol out. Lab studies suggest yohimbine, the active part of yohimbe, may slow that enzyme down. If that happens, timolol could build up a bit more than usual and its effects could feel stronger.

Timolol is a beta blocker, so more of it in your system could mean a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, dizziness, or feeling tired. There's a real tension here too: yohimbe itself tends to raise blood pressure and heart rate, which works against what timolol is trying to do. This is only theoretical, based on lab data, not people, but with the conflicting effects on your heart and blood pressure, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

About Timolol

What Is Timolol Used For?

Brand names: Blocadren, Timol, Timoptic

Timolol is available in ophthalmic (eye) forms and as an oral tablet, and each form has its own approved uses. Ophthalmic formulations — including Betimol, Istalol, Timolol GFS, Timolol hemihydrate, Timolol Maleate eye drops, and Timolol Maleate Ophthalmic Gel Forming Solution — are used to lower elevated intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye) in people with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Timolol Maleate tablets are used orally for three separate conditions: treating high blood pressure (alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines), reducing the risk of death and repeat heart attack in people who have survived a heart attack and are clinically stable, and preventing migraine headaches.
