Naproxen, Sumatriptan falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..

Treximet combines naproxen (an NSAID) with sumatriptan (a migraine drug). The piece that matters here is the naproxen. NSAIDs like naproxen already nudge up bleeding risk on their own because they affect platelets and can irritate the stomach lining. Danshen has been reported to thin the blood and slow clotting too, so pairing the two could add up and raise your chance of bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach bleeding (watch for black or tarry stools, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds).

To be honest, this concern comes from animal studies and case reports, not solid human trials, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, because bleeding can be serious, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Please don't stop either one on your own.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that danshen tincture and various constituents of danshen inhibit the activity of CYP1A2. However, this activity has not been shown in humans when theophylline, a CYP1A2 substrate, was used as a target drug.

Treximet combines two medicines: naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) and sumatriptan (a migraine medicine). Both are partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In the lab, Danshen seems to slow that enzyme down, which in theory could let these drugs build up a bit and raise the chance of side effects, like stomach upset or bleeding from the naproxen, or flushing, drowsiness, and tightness in the chest or jaw from the sumatriptan.

Here's the honest part: this is only test-tube evidence. When Danshen was tested in real people using another CYP1A2 drug, it didn't actually change the levels. So this is mostly theoretical. Still, since Danshen may also affect blood clotting (which matters with naproxen), it's worth running this combo past your pharmacist or doctor first.

In test-tube studies, certain compounds in Danshen appear to slow that enzyme down. If that held true in people, naproxen could build up a bit and hang around longer, which might mean more of its usual side effects: stomach upset, heartburn, a higher risk of stomach irritation or bleeding, and added strain on the kidneys.

Here's the honest part: this is theoretical. It comes from lab work only and hasn't actually been seen in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, Danshen on its own can affect blood clotting, which matters with an NSAID. Please run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor first.
