Theoretically, taking danshen with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that danshen can produce dose-dependent hypotensive effects. Furthermore, concomitant use with captopril appears to potentiate this effect.

Here's the simple version: Danshen and Captopril can both lower your blood pressure, so using them together may push it down more than you want. Captopril already relaxes your blood vessels as an ACE inhibitor, and Danshen seems to do something similar. Stacked up, that could leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when you stand up quickly.

Now, I want to keep this in perspective. This concern comes mostly from animal and lab studies, not solid human trials, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Danshen, especially since it may also affect blood clotting.

About Captopril

What Is Captopril Used For?

Brand names: Capoten, Acepril

Captopril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and left ventricular dysfunction (weakened pumping function of the heart) in stable patients after a heart attack. For the heart attack indication, it helps improve survival and reduces the chance of developing full heart failure.

Captopril tablets are also used to slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy (kidney damage caused by diabetes) in people with type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes who have retinopathy and significant protein in their urine. It reduces the risk of the kidneys failing to the point of needing dialysis or a transplant.
