Why this applies to Amlodipine, Celecoxib

Amlodipine, Celecoxib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Kava interacts with.

Theoretically, kava might increase levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that kava significantly inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes. This effect has not yet been reported in humans.

Consensi is a combo pill: amlodipine (a blood pressure medicine) plus celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever). The celecoxib part is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In lab dish studies, kava appears to block that enzyme. If that happened in people, celecoxib could build up a bit, which might mean more of its typical side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, or, less often, kidney or blood pressure changes.

Here's the honest part: this is only test-tube evidence and hasn't actually been seen in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger concern is that both kava and these medicines can stress the liver. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

It is unclear if kava inhibits CYP3AA; research is conflicting.
Although in vitro research suggests that kava inhibits CYP3A4, more robust clinical evidence shows that kava has no effect on CYP3A4. In a clinical study in healthy volunteers, taking kava 1000 mg twice daily (containing a daily dose of 138 mg kavalactones) for 28 days had no effect on CYP3A4 activity.

Consensi combines amlodipine (a blood pressure medicine) with celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever), and both are partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The thought here is that kava might slow that enzyme, which in theory could let these drugs build up a bit and bring on more side effects like swelling in your ankles, dizziness, low blood pressure, or stomach upset. Neither drug is a prodrug, so more drug in your system would mean stronger effects, not weaker.

The good news: the better human research shows kava does not actually meaningfully affect CYP3A4, so this concern is mostly theoretical and rated minor and unlikely. A bigger reason for caution is that both kava and celecoxib can stress the liver, so it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
