Riluzole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Hemp interacts with.

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Here's the short version on combining hemp with riluzole. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to break down riluzole. In lab (test tube) studies, hemp seemed to speed that enzyme up. If that were to happen in real life, your system might clear riluzole a little faster, which could mean slightly less of the drug working for your ALS.

I want to be honest about how weak this signal is. It comes only from lab data, not from people, and it's rated a minor, possible interaction. Everyday food amounts of hemp seeds or hemp oil are very unlikely to matter. Still, since riluzole is important for you, just mention any concentrated hemp supplements to your pharmacist or doctor before starting them.

What Is Riluzole Used For?

Brand names: Rilutek, Tiglutik, Exservan

Riluzole is approved to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) — the progressive neurological disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This indication is shared across all available riluzole products, including tablets (Rilutek, riluzole), the dissolving oral film (Exservan), and the oral suspension (Tiglutik).

Tiglutik oral suspension is notable in that it can also be given through a PEG-tube (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube) for patients who have difficulty swallowing.
