Candesartan Cilexetil, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, taking danshen with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that danshen can produce dose-dependent hypotensive effects. Furthermore, concomitant use with captopril appears to potentiate this effect.

Your Atacand HCT is really two blood pressure medicines in one pill. Candesartan relaxes blood vessels, and hydrochlorothiazide is a water pill that helps your body shed extra fluid and salt. Both lower your blood pressure. Danshen, in animal studies, seems to lower blood pressure too, so stacking it on top of your medicine could push your numbers down a little further than expected.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or tired, especially when you stand up quickly. Keep in mind this concern comes from lab and animal research, not solid human studies, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Danshen, and don't change your medicine on your own.
