Sitaxsentan sodium falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, taking danshen with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that danshen can produce dose-dependent hypotensive effects. Furthermore, concomitant use with captopril appears to potentiate this effect.

Sitaxsentan (Thelin) was used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, and it works by relaxing and widening blood vessels to ease pressure in the lungs. Danshen has its own mild blood-pressure-lowering effect in animal studies. So the worry here is simple addition: putting the two together could push your blood pressure lower than intended.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or faint when standing up. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical and based only on lab and animal data, so it is far from certain. Still, since both can lower blood pressure, it is worth checking with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.
