Beclometasone dipropionate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Danshen interacts with.

Danshen might alter the levels of drugs cleared by p-glycoprotein.
Pharmacokinetic research in healthy volunteers suggests that danshen might affect p-glycoprotein activity. Taking danshen extract 1 gram three times daily for 10 days prior to receiving fexofenadine 60 mg increases peak levels of fexofenadine, a p-glycoprotein substrate, by 27.4% and area under the curve (AUC) by 37.2%.

Here's the thing to keep in mind about Becotide (beclometasone). It's a steroid you breathe in for asthma, and most of it acts right in your lungs. Danshen may slow down a transporter called p-glycoprotein, which in theory could let a little more of certain drugs build up in your body. In the study we have, danshen raised levels of a different drug (fexofenadine) by about a third.

For an inhaled steroid, the amount that reaches your bloodstream is fairly small, so this interaction is mostly theoretical here and not something I'd lose sleep over. Still, because danshen can also affect bleeding and heart medicines, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

Beclometasone dipropionate also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Danshen might alter the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Preliminary clinical research in healthy males shows that the administration of danshen for 10-14 days induces intestinal CYP3A4 and increases the clearance of midazolam, a CYP3A4 substrate. The maximum concentration of midazolam was decreased by 31% to 67%, and drug levels were decreased by 27% to 80%. However, a single dose of danshen has the opposite effect, increasing maximum concentrations of midazolam by 87%.

Here's the good news first: beclometasone (Becotide) is an inhaled steroid that works right where you breathe it in, inside your airways. Even though your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down, and Danshen can nudge that enzyme around, the amount of beclometasone that actually reaches your bloodstream from a regular inhaler is very small. So this particular pairing is unlikely to cause you much trouble in practice.

The research behind this flag was done with a different drug (a sedative), not your inhaler, so it's somewhat indirect. If you do use higher steroid doses or a nebulizer, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor. Please don't change your inhaler routine on your own.
